
➡️ On the 13th of December 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation ("the Regulation") will enter into force to protect consumers and raise the quality standards of goods placed on the EU market.
‼️ The Regulation will be directly applicable in all EU countries, meaning that it will not require additional implementing legislation at the national level.
The Regulation covers all non-food products, e.g. textiles, toys, electronics.
The regulation requires online retailers to include the following information, among others, in their product sales offer :
➡️ name, registered trade name or registered trademark of the manufacturer, as well as the postal and electronic address at which they can be contacted.
➡️where the manufacturer is not established in the Union, the name, postal and electronic address of the responsible person within the meaning of Regulation, for example: importer located in EU.
➡️any warning or safety information to be affixed to the product or to the packaging or included in an accompanying document in accordance with this Regulation or the applicable Union legislation.
In accordance with the Regulation, ‘manufacturer’ means any natural or legal person who manufactures a product or has a product designed or manufactured and markets that product under that person’s name or trademark.
